Sunday Gatherings at 9:00 & 11:00 am
You belong here before you believe anything.
Harborstone is a community church for people at every point on the road: curious, returning, committed or just tired and looking for a place to breathe. Come as you are. Bring the kids.
Free parking, kids' check-in from 8:40, and nobody will single you out.
Who we are
A church that feels like a neighborhood.
Harborstone started in 2004 as a handful of families meeting in a rented gym. Today we gather in a renovated warehouse in the Harbor District, but the idea has not changed: faith is lived in community, and community is built one real conversation at a time.
We are contemporary in style and grounded in the historic Christian faith. Our services are relaxed, our teaching is honest about hard questions, and our doors are open to people of every background, story and stage of life.

What a Sunday looks like

Ministries
Find your people.
Every ministry at Harborstone is led by volunteers and supported by staff. Each one has its own rhythm, its own leaders and its own way of keeping members in the loop.
Harbor Kids
Birth through grade 5. Safe, joyful, and taught by people who love this age. Check-in opens twenty minutes before each gathering.
Students
Middle and high school students meet Sunday evenings for food, games, teaching and small-group conversation that treats them like adults.
Prayer
A team that prays every week for requests sent in by the congregation, and gathers in person the first Tuesday of each month.
Care and Support
Meals after a birth or a loss, hospital visits, grief groups and a benevolence fund for members facing a hard season.
Worship and Arts
Musicians, vocalists, sound and lighting, visual artists and the people who make the room feel ready on Sunday morning.
Outreach
Monthly partnerships with the Harbor District food pantry, a tutoring program at the elementary school, and two overseas partners.
Small groups
Sunday is the front door. Groups are the living room.
Thirty-eight groups meet in homes, coffee shops and the church building throughout the week. Some study the Sunday message, some walk through a book, some just eat together and talk about life.
Groups form twice a year, in January and September, and stay open for newcomers all year long. If you have been coming for a while and still feel like a visitor, a group is usually the missing piece.
- Groups by neighborhood, life stage and schedule
- Childcare available for most weeknight groups
- New groups launch every January and September

Serve
Two hundred volunteers make Sunday happen. And Tuesday. And Saturday.
Serving at Harborstone is the fastest way to stop feeling like a guest. Most roles ask for one shift a month.
Welcome team
Greeters, parking, coffee, and the people who notice someone standing alone.
Harbor Kids leaders
Background-checked adults who teach, play and keep our youngest members safe.
Food pantry Saturdays
Sorting, packing and distributing groceries with our Harbor District partner.
Meal trains
Cooking for a family with a new baby, a surgery or a loss. Sign up when a need is announced.
Production
Sound, lighting, slides and livestream for both gatherings.
Setup and facilities
The early-morning crew that makes a warehouse feel like home by 8:40.
Every volunteer role starts with a short conversation and, for anyone serving with minors, a background check.
Staff and elders
The people who serve the people who serve.

Daniel Okafor
Lead Pastor
Planted Harborstone in 2004. Preaches most Sundays and still teaches the newcomers' class himself.

Maria Castellano
Pastor of Community and Groups
Builds and coaches the 38 small groups and the care ministry.

Jonah Whitfield
Students and Young Adults
Runs Sunday student nights and the summer serve trips.

Priya Nair
Harbor Kids Director
Leads the volunteer teams for birth through grade 5 and the family events calendar.

Dates and times can shift. Connected members hear about changes directly, not through the grapevine.

I came for the kids' program because a neighbor invited us. Two years later I lead a group, my husband runs sound, and our Tuesday nights belong to six families we would never have met otherwise.
Stay connected
Important church updates shouldn't disappear in an inbox.
Harborstone uses Blasts for ministry updates, prayer needs, event reminders and churchwide notices, delivered directly to connected members' phones and desktops.
You connect once, choose the ministries you care about, and hear from the people who lead them. A weather closure, a meal train for a family, a room change for your group: it reaches you directly, and it never goes to anyone who did not ask for it.
You stay in control. Mute us during quiet hours, pick your topics, or disconnect any time.
